Unfortunately, the quality control issues are real

I’ve been a Galaxy Buds user ever since they came out with the OG Buds back in 2019. Since then, I’ve gotten the Galaxy Buds Live (the bean-shaped ones), Galaxy Buds Pro and Galaxy Buds Pro 2. And while each has their pluses and minuses, I’ve been happy with them all. So, I was eager to try the Galaxy Buds Pro 3 even though I’m not crazy about the switch to the stem form factor pioneered by Apple. Then I read about all the quality control issues with the first batch that customers received, which apparently were widespread. This included the silicone tips ripping easily when attempting to pull them off and replace with a different size, inconsistent build quality between the left and right buds, random scuff marks on the buds and case, and charging issues (with one bud not charging at times). While this had me hesitant in getting these, I took a chance on them anyway. I was hopeful that since Samsung had halted shipments for several weeks to resolve these quality control issues, the ones I got wouldn’t have them.I was wrong. Mine came with several small but visible scuffs. One right on the front middle of the case, one the inside of the clear top to the case, a small nick on the inside on the right earbud, and a slightly bigger scuff on the top of the left earbud. Fortunately, these cosmetic issues are the only ones I’ve run into so far. And in terms of the two most important factors, fit and sound quality, these do not disappoint. As I said, the stem design isn’t my favorite. But these fit surprisingly well with the default middle ear tips and stay in place pretty securely. In comparison to the other Galaxy Buds I’ve owned, they fit much better than their direct predecessor, the Buds Pro 2, but not nearly as good as the Buds Live. These Buds Pro 3, however, do a far better job of blocking everything when active noise cancelling is on. While I can’t say they’re noticeably better than the Buds Pro 2, which also has very good ANC, they stay in my ears better, which helps make the ANC more effective in my view. Also, while the new control scheme using the stem to change volume, answer calls, pause/play and actuate other actions by squeezing and sliding took a little getting used to, I now like it more than the simple touch controls found on all of the older Galaxy Buds models. As for sound quality, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m no soundphile. That said, these sound great to me. Like really great. I don’t know if it’s the dual driver tech, which is apparently new or the difference in design, but these sound better than the Buds Pro 2, which I thought were already fantastic in terms of sound quality. Lastly, I didn’t think I’d like the LED lights at first, but they give off a cool vibe without being obnoxious and can be turned off at any time. All that being said, I think the multiple scuffs these came with, however small, are simply unacceptable for the premium price Samsung charges for these buds. This has me believing that the quality control issues have NOT been resolved—at least not completely. Thus, while I gave them three stars for the great sound, secure fit, excellent ANC and the cool LEDs, it’s hard for me to give a ringing endorsement of the Galaxy Buds Pro 3 at their current price based on how they came. Your experience may be different so if you can get them on sale, it may be worth the gamble.

    Possibly Possessed

Things I like:-These ear buds look cool. Very sleek and modern.-Touch/gesture control and the ability to program it to a degree-Easy set up-I really like the case design-Plastic free packagingThings I dislike:-The left ear bud just does it’s own thing randomly. It keeps vibrating without cause off and on. It’s a sustained harsh vibration in my ear that activates without reason in all settings. It’s worse with noise canceling but it happens even if they are in a passive mode. Super jarring. Resetting didn’t help.-The ear buds don’t feel very secure with any of the sizes. In two days, I’ve swapped out the sizing covers thrice to get the fit right per the app. The covers are difficult to swap and delicate – one has already ripped and I opened the box less than 24 hours ago.-There is a decent lag between screen and audio. OK for a phone call but noticably distracting when watching a show.-My ears hurt after a few minutes no matter the size used, I think because of the seal needed for noise canceling.-No info on how to access the cool features like live AI translation- Sound quality is worse than old versions. Kind of hollow.I can’t comment on battery life. There’s no way I could wear these long enough to drain the battery. These look flashy, but are disappointing. I really like the noise canceling feature when the left earbud doesn’t go into fits, but it’s so bad I feel these are a waste for me.

Not as good as I’d hoped

EDIT: The more I use these, the more I feel that they’re really only worth 3 stars. A disappointment.I’m more of a headphones person. I don’t own any of the latest earbuds. That being said, I had high hopes and these have been a little disappointing.Sound: This is where these earbuds shine. As many have noted, the sound stage is wide. You feel like the instruments are positioned all around you. It doesn’t feel like the music is all taking place in a little box in your head. It’s what I expected, so I’m happy with it. Definitely the best earphones I’ve listened to.ANC: I have a 10 year old pair of old Bose earphones that I always take with me on planes. These don’t achieve the level of noise cancelation that they offer. Why? Because the active noise cancelation constantly adjusts itself, so you get an earful of noise and then silence. It slowly fluctuates. You can reset it by using the long pinch command to switch to Ambient mode and then back to ANC mode, but you shouldn’t have to do this.Controls: Regarding the pinch controls… They work, but they take some getting used to. When they say pinch, they really mean it. You will not activate this gesture without applying some pressure to the stems. It works, but I wouldn’t mind buttons.Pairing: Buttons would help with the annoying pairing dance you have to go through. I don’t want to return my buds to the case and then take them out again so I can switch pairing from my desktop to my phone (and vice versa.) The Galaxy 3 Buds Pro are not the first earphone set to have this problem, but it’s worth mentioning.Fit: Does not feel secure, as others have noted. You might as well get the non-pro version. I am a woman, and I’ve kept the normal tips in. They fit well enough, and the app helps me adjust the fit, but I still dropped one bud on the sidewalk on day 2. That was emotionally painful, but the bud still works.Battery life: Surprisingly good, even with ANC on. I haven’t run out completely yet, and I’ve charged them from about 40% twice.Would I pay $200+ for these on my own? No. But if I was upgrading from Skullcandy or an average brand, these would be a nice improvement.

    Solid Headphones

Very comfortable headphones with good ANC. Phone calls are clear on both ends and the listening to music is very enjoyable and the voice controls make it easy to change volume and pause or rewind/skip a song.

    great earbuds

will keep it simple, FOR ME they are some of the best fitting earbuds, i own the xm5, buds pro 2 ect and these by far sound the best and fit the best BUT the anc does not compare to the xm5, xm5 are 5 stars these are 3.8 , but when they come out with foam tips im sure thatll improve, case is great, i like the press buttons vs the touch controls, very light weight, ambinet mode shines doesnt boost the outside noise just filter is thru at a regular volume not high pitched i guess you can say.

Most Complete Pair of Premium Noise Cancelling Earbuds

Sound is top notch, and ANC seems the best out of premium wireless earbuds in the market.New design is eye catching, and LED lights are just added bonus.Stem design looks to be new for Samsung, but with the Mic physically placed closer to the mouth, I love this change, as I primarily makes phone calls with earbuds on.Overall, great premium product from Samsung.

    Worst Ever Fit

I pre ordered these and was excited when I received them. My excitement last for less than 1 hour.It came with medium sized tip fit. It fell off. Didn’t even sit on my ear for one second!!!Tried small and it did not stay. I realized that I needed big. I replaced the tips the final set which was Large!!It stayed for 2 seconds before falling off from ears when I just yawned!!!Did not even walk… Forget running or using these in Gym!!Finally I ordered some ear wings that were designed for Airpods from Temu for less than a dollar and it held my earbuds…Every time it shows fit as Poor in Wearable app!!Sound is good but when I’m unable to use it what’s the use???Pathetic pair of Ear Buds from Samsung!!!Stay Away from these…

    Great Fit, Disappointing Bluetooth Connectivity

I’ve been really enjoying the Samsung Buds 3 Pro, especially because of how well they fit in my ears. These earbuds probably have the best fit I’ve ever experienced, even better than my previous Bose QuietComfort II. The sound quality is decent, and the automatic noise-cancelling feature works impressively well. However, my biggest frustration with these earbuds is the lack of true Multipoint Bluetooth support. Instead, they come with something called Seamless Earbud Connection, which only works with Samsung devices. This limitation is extremely disappointing, especially considering the price point and the fact that these are a newly released product. My use case involves using these earbuds for work meetings on my Dell laptop and quickly switching to take calls on my Samsung Galaxy phone. Unfortunately, the lack of true Multipoint Bluetooth kills the potential of these earbuds for me and leaves me considering a return.Despite this major drawback, the incredible fit might be the one thing that keeps me from returning them. It’s a tough call, but if seamless device switching is important to you, be aware of this limitation.
